JESUS

The Bible MiniSeries
The world knows that 2,000 years ago a man named Jesus came from the town of Nazareth in what is now called Israel. He traveled about the region and gained a large following. After a few years, the religious leaders in Jerusalem falsely accused him of crimes and handed him over to the Roman authorities. They executed him by nailing him to a cross. A short time later, his followers preached in the name of Jesus Christ, whom they said rose from the dead. More and more followers were added to this movement which has become the Christian church of today.

These are the facts upon which even the greatest skeptic will agree. But there is so much more to Jesus than that. Where he came from, what he did on earth, what he can do for us now is all revealed in the Bible. This book contains the only record of Jesus and was written by the generation of people who heard him teach and saw his deeds. Here is what the Bible teaches us about Jesus Christ:

1. JESUS IS GOD.
John wrote about Him: In the beginning was the Word [poetic description of Jesus], and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1 ESV). He created the world and all that is in it (John 1:3). The religious leaders of his time understood that Jesus claimed to be God (John 5:17-18). Paul wrote that when Jesus died, the Father revealed to the entire world that He was God (Philippians 2:5-11).

2. JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD.
According to the Bible, “Son of God” means: (1) He is fully God. (2) He is one of three persons who together make up the One God. This concept is called the “Trinity.”
Birth of Jesus
The religious leaders of Jesus’ time understood this concept: This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18 ESV)
3. JESUS BECAME HUMAN THROUGH THE VIRGIN BIRTH.
The eternal Son of God already existed in heaven (John 17:5). Through the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20), He was born as a human being, who was then named Jesus (Matthew 1:25). To demonstrate that Jesus was not a mere man (Colossians 2:9), God chose a virgin to give birth to Him (Luke 1:34-35).

4. JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD.
Anytime we disobey God is called sin. The penalty for sin is death, but God in his love wants us to live. Therefore, he sent the promised Messiah (also called Christ) to save the world (John 1:41). The Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to earth to die in our place. Because He lived a life without sin, only He was qualified to pay for our sins by His death on a cross. He then demonstrated His power over death when He rose from the grave three days later. Only through Jesus can our sins can be forgiven and we can come to God (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ is the Savior of everyone in the world (John 3:16).

5. JESUS PERFORMS MIRACLES.
Jesus heals
All through his time on earth, Jesus performed miracles. He healed the sick (Matthew 8:16 among many other instances), controlled the weather (Mark 4:39), multiplied food (Matthew 14:14-21), and provided money when needed (Matthew 17:24-27). Even after leaving the earth, He still does miracles in people’s lives (Acts 3:12-16).

6. JESUS CHANGES LIVES.
People who followed Jesus turned away from their sins. He cast seven demons out of Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2) and she became a devoted follower who told others that Jesus had risen from the dead (John 20:16). Zaccheus, a tax collector, repaid people whom he cheated when collecting taxes and gave half of everything else to the poor (Luke 19:1-10). When followers were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, they were able to declare the message of Jesus, perform miracles, and live free from sin (Luke 10:1-20).

For nearly 2,000 years, Jesus Christ has been changing the lives of people all over the world. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV). He can change your life as well. Jesus will deliver you from sin’s addiction (Romans 6:22), renew your mind (Romans 12:2), and heal your hurts (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).

Jesus on the Cross
7. JESUS LIVES IN HEAVEN AT FATHER GOD’S RIGHT HAND.
After Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended to heaven to the place where he was before becoming human. From there he is able to hear our prayers (Romans 8:34).
8. JESUS WILL RETURN TO JUDGE ALL HUMANITY.
While he was still on this earth, Jesus said, Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man [a title Jesus used for Himself], and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Matthew 24:30 ESV). When Jesus returns, He will separate those who will live with Him forever in heaven from those who will be punished (Matthew 25:31-33).

9. JESUS CHRIST WILL RECEIVE YOU IF YOU COME TO HIM.
Jesus said, Whoever comes to me I will never cast out (John 6:37 ESV). This was why He came to earth—to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10 ESV). It does not matter what you have done, Jesus still wants you to come to Him. He said, I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32 ESV).

PRAY WITH ME NOW TO MAKE JESUS CHRIST YOUR SAVIOR AND YOUR FRIEND.
"Thank you, God, for loving me and sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins. I give Jesus control of my life. Help me to be the person that You want me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen."

You've made the most important decision you will ever make in your life. Jesus said, "If anyone comes toward me, I will not turn him away." He is your answer to your questions on life's journey. We want to hear from you, connect with us, write and tell us about your decision. We will write you back.

YES, I PRAYED THE PRAYER I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS

IS HEAVEN A REAL PLACE?

Let me tell you what the Book of God says. John 14:1-3 states:
Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I (Jesus) go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. – John 14:1-3
Even though we may not have much on this earth, we can be comforted by the thought that God is building a wonderful house in heaven for us.

Because mankind has done a lot of damage to this earth, God is going to make a new one.
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come to mind. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; (no one will take it from them) they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, so says the Lord. – Isaiah 65:17, 21, 22, 25

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else. Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. – Isaiah 45:18, 22
God will give us new bodies.

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ: who shall change our vile body, that it might be made like His glorious body. – Philippians 4:20-21
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. – Isaiah 35:5-7

The last book in the Bible states:
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. – Revelation 21:1-7
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. – Revelation 22:21

What is our action plan? What can you do as an individual?
(1) Seek ways of staying close to Jesus Christ, Our Savior, by frequenting the Sacraments and leading a life of prayer and goodness.
(2) Be compassionate and reach out to those who are addicted, encouraging them to lead a drug-free life.
(3) Decide, with God’s help, to avoid serious sin. Stop using drugs or abusing alcohol, and seek help.
(4) Develop your personal “anti-drug” (for example, volunteer, get involved in sports, hobbies, church, civic activities, join a support group, bible reading, caring for others, etc.)

What can you do as a young person?
(1) Educate yourself on the physical and emotional harm that illegal drugs and alcohol abuse can do to you.
(2) Choose your friends wisely and avoid those persons who abuse illegal drugs and alcohol.
(3) Be involved in youth activities in your parish and stay close to the Lord through Sunday Mass, the Sacraments and prayer.

What can you do as a family?
(1) Stay involved in your children’s lives; eat together, do things together and when children go out from home, ask the questions: Who? What? When? Where? and Why?.
(2) Model good behavior and how to have fun without alcohol and drugs. Forbid illegal drugs in the home or at any family celebration. Use alcohol moderately or not at all.
(3) Live your faith in Jesus Christ as a family; develop a family spirituality through prayer, Sunday Mass, the Sacraments, and parish activities.

What can you do as a parish?
(1) Parish Council members and parish leaders must study and implement this pastoral letter.
(2) Offer spiritual support and speak about the drug abuse issue in homilies and in sacramental preparation.
(3) Provide professional counseling at the parish level, when possible. Initiate a support group in the parish to help those addicted to develop a deep prayer life and relationship with Jesus and Mary to give them strength to stay clean.
(4) Open parish facilities for use by drug counselors and by support groups, such as Alanon, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
(5) Keep a list of treatment centers and their phone numbers handy for referral purposes when the need arises.
(6) Make young people and youth activities a priority in the parish by providing a youth minister, opportunities and space for young people to be together in healthy ways.

How to prepare for Group Discussion Exercises???

Group discussion exercises are used to assess general behavior traits such as listening skills, social skills and problem solving skills, although depending on the job you have applied for other behavior may be assessed as well.
The group discussion gives the employer an opportunity to assess and observe your behavior in action. The theme or task given to you is often a reflection of what is required in the actual job. Each group discussion exercise will include one or more assessors who are trained to observe and assess your and your team members’ behavior against the behavior relevant for the job you have applied for.

Common behavior assessed in this way includes:
Communicating – how you get your message across, how your body language helps your communication, how you listen to others.

Analyzing & Interpreting – how you work with facts and data, get to the heart of complex problems and issues, and draw conclusions based on the data given.

Team working – how you work with individuals and teams, support others, and allow others an opportunity to express themselves. It is important to remember not to confuse ‘Influencing’ with ‘Team Working’ as it is highly unlikely that both of these will be assessed during a single exercise.

Influencing – how well you are able to persuade others, get others’ buy-in to your ideas, or direct others’ behavior.

Group discussions typically involve 6 to 12 participants and 3 to 6 assessors. The assessors are positioned so that they can clearly see the candidates assigned to them for the entire session. The assessors document everything they hear and observe about each person’s behavior. Upon completing the group exercise each assessor will review the information they have recorded against the desired behavior. The assessors then make a decision about your match against the job requirements.

How to prepare for a group discussion exercise?
Ensure you contribute to the group: Ensure you contribute to the conversation. Often candidates take up behaviors or actions that aren’t actively contributing to the group’s outcome. For example, taking lead of the group, standing up to make notes on a board. Be careful not to fall into the trap of regarding these behaviors as earning you some positive points. In some cases these behaviors can even lead to you being alienated by other group members.

Manage your body language
Ensure good body language and maintain relaxed eye contact. Make sure when you are listening to others you are attentive and demonstrate this through nods and gestures of agreement. If you feel uncomfortable in terms of how you are sitting, simply ‘mirroring’ other people will help. Smiling always helps too.

Manage conflicts effectively
Avoid confrontation and ensure you allow everyone a chance to speak. If someone is consistently rude and aggressive, do not resort to this behavior yourself. Assessors will pick this up. Avoid being forceful or speaking over anybody.

Manage your time
Keeping a check on the time will earn you points. Suggesting that you will keep a check on the time and providing regular updates throughout the discussion will also work well. However, if you commit to this responsibility then make sure you maintain that check. There is nothing worse than the session running out of time when you have appointed yourself as time-keeper.
Include others.Keep an eye out for those who do not say anything and take the opportunity to ask them for their opinions. This will gain you both assessors’ appreciation and other group member’s gratitude.

Ensure you are a team player
More often than not, the group discussion exercises require coming to an agreement on a particular issue. For example, you may be given individual proposals and asked to agree on two of these as a group. In these situations, remember you do not always have to get your ideas accepted. Try to do what is better for the company or organisation as presented in the exercise, rather than what you think might benefit you. If you wish to further prepare for your group discussion, please book a coaching session with one of our psychologists.
Note: ( Re-post)
